This transformational course is based on OWN YOUR GREATNESS — the game-changing Impostor Syndrome workbook everyone is talking about.
(And by everyone we mean: LinkedIn, Forbes, Good Morning America, and more. Over 10,000 Copies sold.)
YOU have a dream to advance your career, earn the money you deserve, create your ideal lifestyle and feel truly satisfied in your career.
WE are psychologists and executive coaches with over 15 years of experience; the exercises and strategies we’ve researched and developed have proven to empower you to take action and feel more confident in your career and life.
Our proven 3 C’s Strategy has helped hundreds reduce their feelings of Impostor Syndrome by 30% — in just 12 weeks.
(*As measured by the Clance IP Scale — students went from experiencing Impostor Syndrome frequently at the start of the course to moderately at the end.)
Are you ready? To finally stop…
⬡ Missing out on earning more money because you haven’t asked for what you’re worth?
⬡ Constantly questioning your achievements and downplaying your accomplishments?
⬡ Being passed up for new projects because you discount your own work?
⬡ Feeling unqualified, regardless of how well you perform?
⬡ Avoiding or missing out on leadership opportunities because you don’t think you’re qualified?
⬡ Overworking yourself into burnout to compensate for feeling inadequate?
⬡ Putting your own hopes, dreams, and career growth on hold to work for someone else’s?
⬡ Watching your levels of performance, self-care and happiness slip lower and lower?
⬡ Feeling like you’re stuck, working harder and harder but getting nowhere?
⬡ Getting more education or a promotion — only to still feel like a fraud?
⬡ Feeling frustrated because you know something needs to change in your career, but you’re not sure what or how?
You are not alone – up to 70% of people experience impostor syndrome at some point in their career!
Our own experiences of feeling like a fraud have kept us in toxic work situations and held us back in our careers — professionally we live to help you overcome these feelings and truly own who you are.
Let’s look at how your Impostor Syndrome might be holding you back…
You’re Underpaid — despite all your diligence and hard work.
Dr. Lisa has first hand experience with this, even with a PhD she discovered her salary was 50% less than a male colleague in the same position.
Working through her Impostor Syndrome helped her leave that toxic workplace and secure a part-time job that PAID MORE than her previous full-time salary.
Research has shown that those with impostor syndrome struggle with marketing themselves — a critical skill for job searching or networking — resulting in lower salaries and fewer promotions.
In our 15 years of experience as executive coaches, we’ve seen impostor syndrome negatively impact your salary in the following ways:
Not understanding your worth in the marketplace (i.e. salary comps & skill value.)
Fear of negotiating (bonuses, commissions etc.)
Difficulty networking and communicating your accomplishments to others
Lack of motivation to leave stagnant roles
Reluctance to compete for promotions
Avoidance of high-visibility assignments and project
Trouble envisioning your future career long-term
All of these behaviors have a significant impact on advancement, your salary, and your long-term earnings — but you can reverse them.
You’re Overworked — and experience higher stress and less satisfaction at work.
The paradox of Impostor Syndrome is that you’re actually a highly competent high performer — who doesn’t yet accept and integrate your accomplishments into your true identity. Every time you perform, it’s as if your previous accomplishments never existed…
So you work harder and harder to compensate for these feelings of inadequacy… the results (good grades, high performance reviews etc.) earn you recognition and praise.
But, you’re not yet able to internalize your successes and accomplishments, so you rely on this external praise for validation. Once that good feeling of being praised wears off, you return to worrying about your intelligence and second-guessing your abilities — triggering the urge to overwork again.
Thus, the vicious cycle begins again… a cycle that also leads to self-sabotaging behaviors — like procrastinating due to performance anxiety and/or perfectionism. This creates needless high-stress situations — the perfect recipe for mental exhaustion and burnout.
If you're scared right now, if you're second-guessing yourself, if you’re still struggling to believe things could ever be different for you — You're normal.
Remember, around 70% of people experience impostor syndrome at some point in their career.
When you’ve felt like a fraud for so long, or tried other methods to overcome your Impostor Syndrome without results it’s hard to even recognize your own potential.
But we promise it IS possible to learn to OWN YOUR GREATNESS.
We've dealt with Fraud Syndrome too — even as PhDs. It’s why we’ve spent over 15 years researching, developing and using our 3C’s strategy to help thousands of people like you overcome Impostor Syndrome.
Surface level behavior modifications like “hustling”, generic affirmations or “fake until you make it” have likely failed you.
To deal with imposter syndrome, first you have to figure out where it started and then reprogram the false thoughts, beliefs and feelings that are holding you back.
How does The Own Your Greatness Companion Course help you gain the confidence to THRIVE?
The 3 C’s Model
We’ll help you CLARIFY the core reasons why your imposter complex developed so you can critically examine those beliefs, thoughts and experiences.
You won’t just learn about the common causes of Impostor Syndrome, either…
Through our interactive approach, you’ll learn to evaluate your unique imposter origin story… acknowledge impostor syndrome symptoms… recognize triggers and trap doors… and actually change your narrative to support your ongoing success and well-being.
Owning your success and accomplishments starts when you CHOOSE to speak your truth.
We’ll help you identify automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) that increase your complex fraud feelings so you can proactively deal with them instead of running yourself to the ground trying to cover them up.
You will also learn how to prioritize self-care, in order to create a compassionate, supportive routine that helps you value and care for yourself.
To CREATE change, you must take an assertive role in your self-growth. We’ll help you form a real, holistic picture of all the different factors that are holding you back and what you can do to tackle them.
This isn’t just about discussing the change you want to see, but learning how to execute that change in a way that works for you. That includes developing concrete skills and tools so you can experiment with new roles, build your dream team of support, and find the conditions for optimal performance.
How Do You Know If You are Experiencing Impostor Syndrome?
As common as it is, Impostor Syndrome can be hard to identify at first. It isn’t a “diagnosis” but rather a group of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that cluster together and have a significant impact on your emotional functioning. These Impostor Syndrome behaviors and thoughts commonly feed feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and frustration.
And you don’t experience Impostor Syndrome all the time — rather these feelings are brought up by your Impostor Syndrome triggers. Typical triggers include, a new job, a new or complex project, highly visible situations where you feel scrutinized or doing something you haven’t done in a while makes you feel “rusty.”
Do any of these signs of Impostor Syndrome feel familiar?
You overwork or self-sabotage with procrastination to cover feelings of inadequacy.
You fear being a failure and/or being discovered as a fraud.
You overestimate others & underestimate yourself.
You struggle with perfectionism.
You deny your own ability and achievements.
You feel fear or guilt around success.
You attribute your success to luck, overwork, mistakes or relationships.
You don’t feel intelligent. (Or at least not as intelligent as others think you are).
You are high-achieving, but struggle to internalize your success.
Another reason many people struggle to recognize their Impostor Syndrome is that there are a lot of common myths about Impostor Syndrome.
Sadly, even some popular self-help personalities have helped perpetuate these dangerous myths in their teachings and suggestions for overcoming Imposter Syndrome.
Have you heard any of these common myths and misconceptions?
It’s Not Your Fault, But You Can Take Back Control
Since you’re reading this, you’ve likely wrestled with Impostor Syndrome for quite some time, (whether or not you realized it.)
There’s always an origin story behind Impostor Syndrome — a story written by your unique experiences and circumstances.
You developed your impostor syndrome growing up and/or during your education or early career – past memories, negative experiences, discrimination, toxic environments – have all contributed to the negative stories you now tell yourself about your qualifications and accomplishments.
You learned these beliefs and behaviors from your parents, grandparents, teachers, mentors or your industry… and if you identify as a woman, immigrant, LGBTQ, first-gen or BIPOC there are even more complex societal layers and systems influencing your origin story.
Your impostor syndrome origin story led to the behaviors and beliefs that have made you feel like a fraud, downplay your accomplishments, and fear being incompetent or incapable.
Without taking action you're likely to continue on your current path.
In our experience, working with executives, high performing professions, hundreds of organizations and entrepreneurs Impostor Syndrome exists at all levels. There is no magical level of education, professional success or accomplishment that will mute the negative story in your head.
Not even C-suite executives and PhDs are immune to Impostor Syndrome, and if you’re advancing, growing and transitioning in your career, you’ll regularly encounter your Impostor Syndrome triggers.
The good news is that you can reprogram the thoughts, behaviors and beliefs that cause these false impostor feelings… you just need some support to
unpack your origin story, break your old patterns and write a new narrative.
If you keep operating with the same impostor syndrome story, you will keep thinking the same thoughts, which will lead to the same behaviors, and the same outcomes.
You'll continue to work harder, burn out, and feel frustrated at work, unable to break through and too paralyzed by fear to make your dreams happen. But you can make this change.
We're living in a time of rapid workplace transformation with so much possibility and opportunity.
Yes, there has been a lot of change and upheaval in the world in the last few years.
But underneath the noise, there is a powerful invitation to rethink how you work, to define success on your own terms, to step into your full potential and purpose to create a career that is truly satisfying.
We know what it’s like to feel unsatisfied or unhappy at work.
We’ve experienced how frustrating it is when you want to finally feel satisfied in your career, yet patterns of impostor syndrome are holding you back from living the life that you desire.
You’re not alone.
Your ‘why’ for owning your greatness might be to transition into a career field that inspires you… to have the courage to leave a toxic workplace… to raise your salary… to create more ease and balance in your work life… to confidently step into a leadership role… or to finally take action on your business idea or goals.
Deep down, you know you're a smart person with exciting goals, yet impostor syndrome has always been a stumbling block…
… making you doubt and question yourself
… keeping you stuck in toxic situations,
… holding you back from truly embodying your full potential.
It’s frustrating to feel like you have never really made progress in your career, no matter how hard you work.
We want you to know that you CAN transform your relationship with success.
No matter how many times you may have tried and "failed" before.
No matter how many books you’ve read or workshops you’ve done.
Change is possible for you — but you can’t keep using the same techniques that are not working for you.
Ignoring, denying or covering up your impostor feelings won’t make them stop.
But, if you are willing to:

Assessment of your own Impostor Syndrome scores (which you will compare to your impostor score after your transformation in the course)

Discovering Your Impostor Syndrome Triggers
Become aware of the situations and circumstances that will trigger your impostor syndrome complex. As you increase your awareness of your behaviors when triggered you’ll gain more control and be able to navigate “trap doors” with greater ease and get derailed less often.
Learn to identify the scenarios, the themes and the triggers for your particular Impostor Syndrome experiences
Understand what your typical feelings, thoughts and behaviors are during that time
Identify the origins for your triggers and create a letting go process
Restorying Your Narrative
In this module you begin the deep work of actually reprogramming your mind, to tell a new story. Students find this module incredibly empowering as they learn to craft a new narrative that supports the vision they have for their career and life — instead of the false impostor story that has kept them trapped in a cycle of struggle.
Understanding your impostor syndrome narrative and how it shows up and impacts your work life
Reflection on what aspects of the narrative you want to change
Craft an “autobiography” as a method of envisioning your future
Use the technique of thickening your narrative to craft a narrative that is more in line with your vision
Internalizing Your Accomplishments & Speak Your Truth
Not understanding or recognizing your worth is central to Impostor Syndrome. Often, when you struggle with it, you minimize your contributions, skills and strengths and see them as less valuable as other competencies you perceive yourself not to have. Making these strengths visible and part of your narrative is critically important to overcoming your Impostor Syndrome.
Learn to identify confidants with whom to share true impostor syndrome experiences
Taking an audit of competencies, accomplishments and skills with a grasp of the multiple intelligences framework
Working on not erasing or making invisible your strengths
Identifying those strengths and develop awareness of how to maximize in your advancement and leadership process
Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) & How to Silence Them
Often Impostor Syndrome triggers automatic negative thoughts that reinforce behaviors and feelings related to your Impostor Syndrome. For example, if you make a mistake, you can have a catastrophizing ANT that tells you, “that was horrible – everyone can see you are not capable of taking up leadership on this project." Working on recognizing your ANTs, labeling them and learning to counter them, helps you to develop a positive tape around triggers and turns the volume down on the ANTs and how they affect your experience of your competence.
Learn the concept of ANTs and the categories of ANTs
Identify the ANTs that are particularly problematic for you in your Impostor Syndrome experience
Learn how to counter your ANTs with rational responding and challenging questions
Develop the skills around creating a positive tape
Value & Develop a Structure Around Your Self-Care, Burnout & Boundaries
One reason our students are so successful is we teach how to sustain your journey.
When you are focused on others for approval, you can lose focus on caring for yourself, setting boundaries and developing healthy habits, which lead to burnout.
The development of a self-care structure and plan become crucial for working on your Impostor Syndrome.
Learn about the signs and symptoms of burnout
Create boundary setting strategies – emotional, physical
Assessing what are the contributors to your burnout
Valuing yourself and understanding role clarity and expectations
Dealing with perfectionism, learning how it functions and managing to shift it
Developing self-care structure and strategies; understanding micro-habits; & self-care accountability
Learning task and time management
Learning mindfulness, breathing and meditation tools
Learning How to Experiment with New Roles
The most common Impostor Syndrome trigger is a new role — but taking on a new role is a requirement for career advancement.
Often when you have Impostor Syndrome, you adhere to limited and rigid roles that don’t give you a lot of flexibility to learn, grow and make mistakes.
It becomes vitally important to give yourself the opportunity to take up new roles that allow for these experiences to develop your leadership potential.
Develop role flexibility by understanding the typical roles that those with Impostor Syndrome take up (The Helper, The Superperson, The Failure Avoider, The Knowledge Hub and The Behind-the Scenes Leader)
Understand the cost-benefit analysis of each role that you commonly take up
Experiment with new roles that expand your repertoire and allow you to be a more versatile leader (e.g., The Help Seeker, The Risk Taker, The Collaborator, The Knowledge-Receiver, The Visible Leader)
Learn to experiment with new roles in low stakes engagements
Establishing Your Dream Team
Fighting Impostor Syndrome takes a community, but not just any community; you need to have people around you who understand Impostor Syndrome and how it functions for you and not accidentally reinforcing your Impostor Syndrome.
Develop a team around you that supports you in particular roles
What you are looking for in mentors to support overcoming Impostor Syndrome
Learning the importance of vulnerability and reciprocity in these types of relationship
Building skills to address ruptures and crafting feedback to your team members so they can be there for you in helpful ways
Learning to practice the roles for others
Assessing Your Conditions for Optimal Performance
Once you have built all the skills and tools to overcome your Impostor Syndrome, you have to prepare for consistently using them and contend with the obstacles that occur in everyday life to fall back into all patterns.
In the final module you will learn how to optimize performance post impostor syndrome.
Distinguish between a lapse and a relapse
Prepare to deal with survivor’s guilt
A plan for maintaining your skills
Consider how you may support others
